Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Many exemptions and remissions help those who might struggle to pay charges. This includes costs for NHS prescriptions, dental care, opticians, and hospital travel.
The NHS prescription charge is a set fee. Successive Governments believe it’s fair to charge those who can pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need many medications.
When going abroad, you can take your NHS medications with you.
Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
